Jelena, a talented musician and gifted singer was born in the small, Serbian city of Kovin. Her love for music began at the early age of four when she joined her parents in singing and playing the piano, imitating their zeal. Her dream was already put into place by this time, that is, to perform on grand stages and to share her gift of music with others, everywhere.
In the meantime, Jelena continued to pursue these passions while attending the Music Conservatory of Belgrade and studying music at the University for Music, in Graz, Austria. It was during this period that she would earn the title of Professor for Classical & Jazz, as well as for Singing and Music Theory.
Jelena won the Austrian singing competition, the television program known as THE VOICE. She recorded her first record, „Ljubav,“ (“Love”) which comprises Balkan and Roma music, while continuing to work as a vocal coach and music teacher in Vienna. During this time she maintained a solo music career, performing all over the world. Jelena also gained experience while working as a solo artist and background vocalist on various TV performances, as well.
The musical influences of her parents continued to guide Jelena throughout her life, specifically, as in their admiration for the work of singer and guitarist, Jose Feliciano. Feliciano had already made his mark around the world when she was a young girl, so his music had punctuated her entire life. When she was given an opportunity to work with him as a background vocalist, she recalls, she could hardly say, “No!”
In fact, it would become another particle of her childhood dream, coming true! She now tours with Jose and his band as a Singer and Musical Director. Additionally, a record contract and the opportunity to be produced by Helmuth Schärf and record with Jose Feliciano, has now come Jelena’s way, too, as she sees that little girl’s dream continuing to unfold.
